The former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker named a new rhododendron "Berliner Liebe" at the opening of the German Federal Garden Show Berlin 1985.

Federal President Johannes Rau gave his name to a new rhododendron on the Freundschaftsinsel in Potsdam, in May 2003.
Another highlight was the rhododendron naming ceremony for "Wilhelm Bruns" conducted by the Premier of Lower Saxony, Christian Wulff, on 19 May 2006 in honour of the senior partner of BRUNS Pflanzen who passed away in December 2003.

named on 13 May 1988 at the opening of the Regional Exhibition Munster by Premier (retired) Dr. Ernst Albrecht.

named on 15 May 1988 in Porta Westfalica by Mayor (retired) Heinrich Schäfer.

"Marianne von Weizsäcker"
named in May 1990 at the Rhododendronpark Gristede after the wife of the former Federal President.

"F.K. Evert"
named on 9 May 1990 by Dierk Evert.

"Friede Springer"
named on 11 May 1991 on the occasion of the Regional Exhibition "Nature in Urban Design" in Bremervörde by Mrs Friede Springer.

"Gräfin Sonja"
named on 19 May 1994 at the Rhododendronpark Gristede by Countess Sonja Bernadotte.

"Spreepark Cottbus"
named on 31 May 1995 at the German Federal Garden Show Cottbus by the Minister of Agriculture (retired) D. Jochen Borchert.

"Lüttges König"
named on 11 May 1996 at the Rhododendronpark Gristede by the Lüttge family and former members of staff.

"Christiane Herzog"
named on 5 July 1997 at the Rhododendronpark Gristede by the wife of the former Federal President

"Christina Rau"
named on 8 June 2001 by Mrs Christina Rau on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the firm BRUNS Pflanzen.

"Preussens Gloria"
named on 11 May 2001 at the German Federal Garden Show Potsdam by the Mayor of the regional capital of Potsdam (retired), Matthias Platzeck.

"Henri Nannen"
named on 26 May 2002 at the Regional Garden Show Bad Zwischenahn by Mrs Eske Nannen.

"Centennial"
named on 5 June 2005 at the German Federal Garden Show Munich by Mrs Claudia Goppel.
From the end of April until the beginning of June the park is transformed into a sea of flowers. The Rhododendronpark Gristede is open to the public free of charge.
